I personally don’t like San Paulo, and to my mind Brasilia is only for visitors who are avidly interested in architecture. Towns such as Parati are fantastic, and if you book at the Pousada de Ouro, you will find that a great many celebrities have spent vacation time there.
A bus trip to the famous town of Parati, is a real adventure, getting there is part of the fun, and this is the case with many of the best spots in Brazil. And if you are visiting the south, head for Santa Caterina and Praia do Pinho, this beach is the first official nudist beach.
